Brief Program Summary
The Service Learning Community resides on the third floor of Chandler Hall. The SLC is composed of 32 first-year students integrated with 8 upperclass student mentors who are interesting in making a difference and serving the community. They take two courses together and complete service projects in the community. The goals of the program combine service and learning to help students increase their awareness of, and involvement in, the campus and greater community.

Other Academic Offerings
Winter Term Course, "A Call to Service"-4 credit hours. Living on the Service Learning Community fulfills the experiential learning requirement for graduation.

Summary of Facilities and Facilities Budget Chandler is a three-story co-ed by suite style housing environment. Suites are 4-5 rooms with a suite bath holding 8-10 students. Exterior entrance way and balcony. Both communities have common lounge space.

Computer lab is located on first floor of Chandler.

Service Learning students build partnerships with the local community via their service projects.

The Role of Leadership Development
Residence life student staff undergo continuous leadership development and training throughout the academic year. The Area Director and the Director of Service Learning work closely with students on their leadership development.

Our programming requirements in the Residence halls includes a valuing cultures component. Each student staff member is required to program one valuing cultures program per semester.

Elon has followed the President's intiative on race relations by hosting campus dialouges.
