Brief Program Summary
In the Leadership Living & Learning Center (LEAD-LLC), students live in Allen (men) or Dawson (women) Residence Halls with others who have a similar interest in leadership. Students take a one-hour course in the Fall (Leadership Development) and a one-hour course in the Spring (Servant Leadership) which contributes to an academic understanding of leadership concepts and theories. Students also meet weekly in small Mentor Groups, where a returning student, or Mentor, facilitates discussion and activities related to self-awareness, integrity, understanding others, and other topics within leadership. The LEAD-LLC students also participate in multiple hours of community service, attend leadership lectures, and go on one retreat each semester which integrates the academic knowledge with the practical application of leadership. All of these components provide the opportunity for an integrated experience where students not only discuss ideas and experiences, but share the ideas and experiences. Students in the LEAD-LLC share more than a room or a class, they share their lives.

Greatest Challenges for this Learning Community:
Recruiting and Interviewing returning leaders given the early timeline for housing reap process; quality verses quantity; sustainability of growth; do not have faculty in residence or grad assistants yet to provide administrative and programmatic assistance for a large program; environmental set up (lack of meeting space/classrooms) for program in residence hall
